The Head of the Interim Committee for managing Zamalek Sporting Club, Ahmed Bakry has passed away due to COVID-19, the Cairo based club has confirmed.
Ahmed Bakery was appointed in November after the Egyptian Olympic Committee had decided in October to suspend the former club president Mortada Mansour, who was at the center of an investigation into possible financial irregularities.
The 40 year old Fayoum Governorate according to Kingfut.com reports contracted Covid-19 and spent a week in quarantine before, unfortunately, passing away due to the virus on Thursday morning.
“The committee in charge of Zamalek and all employees of the club offer their sincere condolences to the family of Ahmed Bakry, head of the committee in charge of managing the club, who passed away this morning,” Zamalek said in a statement.
Hisham Ibrahim, Vice president of Zamalek’s committee in charge of the club, will now lead the Whites on an interim basis until Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi announces a new president.
