Which Manchester United will turn up today?

Manchester United’s season so far has been characterized by inconsistencies, disappointing performances and dramatic wins. When least expected they turn up, but when expected to deliver, they perform awfully in their games.

It is such inconsistencies that have placed them in a difficult position as they prepare for their last game of the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League campaign against RB Leipzig in Germany.

Although on top of the group with nine points (same points tally with Paris Saint Germain and Leipzig) United will fail to qualify for the Champions League round of 16 if they are unable to secure a good result tonight.

Solksjear’s men have previously shown amazing fighting spirit against Southampton and West Ham by coming from behind to win those games, but that is just one side of this United team.

Toss the coin and you will be presented with a United side that struggles in the first half of games and concede disappointing defeats against the likes of Instabul Başakşehir.

So with a Champions League round of 16 place up for grabs, which United will turn up for the battle?

The dominant away United side?

Most Manchester United supporters will be saying a word of prayer ahead of tonight’s kick-off, hoping that the dominant away side of their club will show up in style.

Ole’s men have an imperious away record in the Premier League and Champions League this season. Particularly with the Premier League, they have set a new record for most away win by a Manchester United side as they secured impressive wins against Southampton and West Ham on the road.

The team also defeated Paris Saint Germain in their own backyard in what was a convincing victory and it is exactly the type of spirit that the club will need in a bid to be successful tonight.

The mediocre Manchester United side?

With all the quality players that Manchester United have, they sometimes look average especially when the likes of Martial begins to miss glories opportunities and Maguire is caught in no man’s land.

Such mediocre performances has cost the club dearly both in the Premier League and in the Champions League.  If the team had shown up with a better performance against Instabul Başakşehir, for example, they would have already secured qualification to the next round.

Hopefully, for them, they will be able to avoid defeat and progress to the next stage of the competition.
