Virgil van Dijk had an admission as the Liverpool squad have kept with tradition and lifted the spirits of children, parents and staff at Alder Hey hospital by making a virtual visit.
In the video posted on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, the Dutch captain was sat in the middle of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate as the trio spread joy on the video call.
One young fan told Van Dijk he was his favourite Liverpool player, but the Reds number four came back with a response that supporters of the club won’t want to imagine.
One fans praise of Van Dijk led to the number four saying: “These two are going to take my place at one point though.”
Gomez has struggled for minutes this season after suffering a serious knee injury just over a year ago.
Konate’s signing from RB Leipzig in the summer has proved a masterstroke as the 22-year-old has slotted in seamlessly when required and looks as though he has all the makings to go on and be a world class centre half.
