The UEFA Women’s Champions League is back with a set of knock-out fixtures this week. Reigning champions Olympique Lyon facing off against Brondby, Manchester City going up against Fiorentina, and a big match up featuring Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
The standout fixture among the eight matches will be Chelsea against Atletico Madrid tie. This will be the first meeting between the two sides in Uefa Women’s Champions League despite each of the teams competing in Champions League during prior years.
The English side currently sit top of the England’s Women’s Super League standings whiles the Spanish side are placed third on Primera Division Femenina.
Chelsea coach Emma Hayes heads into this encounter with one of the best squad with the likes of Pernille Harder, Sam Kerr, Fran Kirby, and Bethany England will be hoping to replicate their form in the league despite losing their incredible 33-game unbeaten to Brighton and Hove Albion.
There is also an intriguing clash between reigning champions Olympique Lyon and Brondby.
