Former Liverpool star Thiago Alcântara has praised Ryan Gravenberch, believing the young midfielder is thriving under new coach Arne Slot.
Although Thiago and Gravenberch were at Liverpool together for a season, they never played together due to Thiago’s injuries. However, Thiago has closely watched Gravenberch’s development and even attended Liverpool’s recent match against Nottingham Forest. Despite Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat, Gravenberch stood out as one of the best performers on the day.
Speaking to LFCTV before the game, Thiago shared his thoughts on Gravenberch’s improvement. “He’s getting better and better,” Thiago said. “He’s learning to play in different positions in the midfield and adapting well.”
Thiago also praised Gravenberch’s intelligence and ability to adjust to Slot’s tactics. “He’s an intelligent player, so he’s quick to adapt. The midfield trio, with Macca (Mac Allister) and Dom (Szoboszlai), are doing really well together.”
While Thiago retired after four years at Anfield due to hip surgery, he continues to support the team and believes Slot is helping the squad grow. “Liverpool’s players are getting better with each game, showing more possession and aggression,” Thiago added.
Thiago’s praise shows that Gravenberch is on the right path, and Liverpool fans will be excited to see how much more he can achieve under Slot’s guidance.
