Switzerland’s coach, Murat Yakin, has revealed the final 26-man squad for the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany. After initially naming a 38-man provisional squad, Yakin trimmed it down to 26 after conducting team training sessions. Granit Xhaka, the 2023-24 Bundesliga champion, will captain the Swiss team. Xhaka played a crucial role in leading Bayer Leverkusen to the German league title.
The goalkeeping department boasts Gregor Kobel from Borussia Dortmund and Yann Sommer from Inter Milan, with Yvon Mvogo from FC Lorient facing stiff competition for a spot. The backline will feature Manuel Akanji from Manchester City and Fabian Schar from Newcastle United, providing solidity and experience. In midfield, Xhaka will likely partner with Denis Zakaria from AS Monaco. The attack will be spearheaded by former Bayern winger Xherdan Shaqiri and Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni, promising a potent strike force.
With a strong squad in place, Switzerland is ready to make their mark at the Euros.
