NBA Notebook: Sixers blow out Spurs without Embiid as fans return

Joel Embiid’s absence was no problem for the Philadelphia Sixers as they continued their incredible winning streak with a blow out win over the San Antonio Spurs.

The leading candidate for the MVP award this season, Embiid, suffered a bone bruise on his left knee in Friday’s win over the Washington Wizards, which is set to keep him out for at least two weeks.

Joel Embiid has been the most influential for the Sixers as they continue to impress in the NBA this season. He leads his side’s board for average points per game, dribbles as well as offensive and defensive rebounds.

But any doubts of his absence causing a setback was put to bed as they brushed aside the San Antonio Spurs with a 134-99 victory.

In his absence, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris stepped as they recorded 37 points between themselves to lead their team to victory.

The victory which puts them on a 5-game winning streak was the best welcome present for their 3,100 fans who returned to the Wells Fargo Center for the first time in months.
