Schalke 04 are just a game away from matching an unwanted Bundesliga record after Saturday’s 3-0 away defeat against Hertha BSC. The club currently sit at the bottom of the League log without a win in their last 30 games.
They are closing in fast on the Bundesliga record, held by Tasmania Berlin, who in their one Bundesliga season, went 31 matches without winning in 1965/66.
Hertha BSC took the lead in the 36th minute through Matteo Guendouzi after he curled a loose the ball past Ralf Fährmann. Jhon Cordoba made it 2-0 for the host after he was teed up by Vladimir Darida. With 10 minutes left to play, Darida produced his second assist of the evening as his lofted pass found Krzystof Piatek, who neatly placed the ball home.
The results leaves Christian Gross Schalke 04 bottom of the Bundesliga with just four points after 14 games while Hertha climb to 12th.
Elsewhere at the Commerzbank Arena, second-placed Bayer Leverkusen blew the chance to top the Bundesliga Saturday after crashing to a 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt following an own goal by Edmond Tapsoba.
Bayern Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri scored with a deft back-heel flick to give the visitors the lead after only 10 minutes in Frankfurt. The hosts drew level 12 minutes later when Amin Younes got in behind the defence to score before Leverkusen centre-back Tapsoba turned the ball into his own net nine minutes after the break.
