Reports: Al-Ahli lining up £60 million offer for Richarlison
AL-Ahli are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham’s Brazilian striker Richarlison this summer, according to Give Me Sport. Tottenham is open to selling if they get the right offer and already have a replacement lined up.
Since joining Tottenham two years ago, the Brazilian has had a disappointing time. However, his second season in north London was much better than the first. In the last season, he scored 11 goals in the Premier League, a huge improvement from his debut season where he only managed to score one goal.
Either way, the club are not particularly looking to offload the striker but could entertain offers should match their asking price. Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah were interested before, but those links have cooled down since, with the chance of those resurfacing in the latter stages of the window not mainly ruled out.
Now, Al-Ahli could make an offer, with the report stating the Saudi Pro League side readying a £60 million bid for the Brazilian. Despite his dismal time at Spurs, Richarlison does have a stellar reputation in the market, which is why the Saudi side are willing to make a bid of that magnitude.
Richarlison might be open to a Saudi move, although joining the Middle Eastern league might hamper his chances of regularly featuring for Brazil. However, any move away from Spurs will depend on any club meeting the North Londoners’ asking price, although should they receive £60 million, they should sell and recoup the price they paid to Everton two years ago.
Should Tottenham sell Richarlison, the club would accelerate its pursuit of a new striker, as it is already linked with Dominic Solanke. For now, Spurs are only willing to pay well under £50 million, which will see any bid turned down by Bournemouth as they are sticking with their £65 million release clause in the striker’s contract.
If Richarlison leaves, Spurs will be under pressure to sign a replacement. While Solanke may not be as versatile as the 27-year-old Brazilian, he does offer a goal-scoring record that Richarlison does not have. In that case, Tottenham might be forced to come very close to that £65 million release clause to sign the player from Bournemouth.
