Chelsea wants to add Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to his squad next summer, according to reports in Italy.
New Chelsea manager Graham Potter is a huge fan of the English International and would like to work with him at Stamford Bridge.
To get the deal over the line, Calciomercatoweb suggest that Chelsea could offer club-record signing Romelu Lukaku as part of the deal to bring the Three Lions Captain to Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge in a club record £98 million deal last summer, but the Belgian struggles under Thomas Tuchel and was sent on a season-long loan to Inter Milan this summer.
The Blues may now try to capitalise on Antonio Conte’s previous relationship with Romelu Lukaku. They had a successful spell together at Inter Milan, working together to end Juventus’ Serie A dominance and Chelsea will hope that a possibility of a reunion with Conte might help strike a deal with Spurs for Kane.
Tottenham have still not sorted out a new contract for their star man and with Bayern Munich and Chelsea lurking around, speculations about him leaving the club has only increased.
Recent reports suggested thats Bayern are considering making a January move for the ‘world class‘ striker instead of waiting for next summer. And now with Chelsea registering their interest in him, things could become quite interesting.
The only obstacle for Chelsea as per the report would be the London club’s pre-agreement with Inter which states the Italian club has the option to extend Lukaku’s stay for a second season on loan if they wish to do so.
Another factor to be considered is Kane’s willingness to move to Spurs’ London rivals, which could jeopardize his legacy at Spurs. And while he was willing to move to Manchester City last summer in search of trophies, he might think twice about a move to Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham Hotspur have started the season really well, sitting third on the table, just one point behind league leaders Arsenal and are yet to lose a game in the Premier League. But if Spurs end the season without a silverware, Harry Kane would seriously consider leaving the club in the hunt for trophies and while Bayern remains the most probable option, one can’t rule Chelsea out.
