Rashford to miss United’s Thursday tie with AC Milan
Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford is set to miss his side’s round of 16 first leg tie with AC Milan following an injury he sustained in the Manchester derby last Sunday.
Rashford played 75 minutes as United ended their rivals’ 21 consecutive winning streak on Sunday. He was forced off after a sprint back into his won half to stop a City counter attack caused a strain in his ankle.
It was feared that the player would spend more days on the sidelines but a scan conducted on Monday revealed that the player has not suffered ligament damage on his ankle.
However, he is likely to miss the first leg of their UEFA Europa League tie with AC Milan on Thursday night as it has been revealed that there is bruising and swelling around his ankle.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table after their first win in three games, following draws against Crystal Palace and Thomas Tuchel’s in-form Chelsea.
Bruno Fernandes scored in the first half through the penalty spot before Luke Shaw doubled the lead in the 50th minute to give the Red Devils all the three points in a big rivalry game.
Their next Premier League challenge will be against West Ham on Sunday but they first have to play an AC Milan side who are fighting to win their first Scudetto in several years as they lie second behind Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
