Rashford reaches United 50 goal milestone

Marcus Rashford MBE, this afternoon, became the third youngest player in the history of Manchester United to score 50 Premier League goals, and now lies behind Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo for players to have reached that milestone.

Rashford who was recently awarded with an Expert Panel Special Award at the British Sports Personality of the Year 2020 by BBC, opened the scoring for Manchester United in the first half to take his tally to 50 at the age of 23 years and 56 days, .

His well taken goal against Leicester saw him go behind Wayne Rooney who scored 50 Premier League goals at the age of 22 years and 157 days and Cristiano Ronaldo who reached the milestone at 22 years and 341 days.

Rashford’s next target will now be to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s 84 Premier League goals he scored for the club before he joined Real Madrid, and Wayne Rooney’s 183 Premier League goals for United.

The milestone for Rashford comes after the player’s manager, Soljskear, had earlier in the week named him as a potential legend of the club. He said:

Marcus is talented enough and grounded enough and driven enough to be a legend at this club,” he told reporters.

I have to say his statistics already show his contribution. In and around the dressing room as well, he is a Man Utd boy through and through.

In a game in which Manchester United failed to take all three points, Bruno Fernandes also set his own record as he became the first Portuguese player since Ronaldo to score 10 Premier League goals in a season.
