Raphinha to Liverpool latest as Bayern Munich move first in transfer battle

Liverpool have been dealt a potential transfer blow with reports circulating Leeds United winger Raphinha will join German side Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian winger has impressed in the Premier League for Leeds and has been linked with a host of sides in England’s top flight.

Liverpool are one of the clubs to have kept an eye on the 25-year-old – but Bayern may have made the first move in the battle for his signature.

According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Formiga, Raphinha will join the German giants in the next transfer window.

A tweet translated from TNT Sports Brazil said:

“According to @brunoformiga, Raphinha will leave Leeds for Bayern in the next window, and the values are around 50Mi euros.

“A trainer club, Avaí already has its share in the negotiation, which should be 1.5 million euros, in next year’s budget.”

Raphinha has been one of a few standouts for Leeds this season, scoring eight goals and grabbing one assist in 16 league games.

His agent, former Portugal star Deco, in the past has admitted that the Reds have taken an interest in the winger.

“Raphinha became an important player in the Premier League, the club knows he has grown and things will happen naturally,” Deco was quoted telling Globo Esporte.

He is young, he has many challenges ahead, there are certainly several clubs that like him, and Liverpool do like him, there were approaches, but nothing official.

“Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.”
