In all honesty, I was never interested in the economic aspect of the proposals, he said.

I received offers from Arab clubs, but I have always just wanted to be happy in football. There’s still time for the rest. I think I’m in a very good period of form, at the peak of my career and want to continue playing at the highest level.

I am an international, now I am challenging myself in a strong league in Spain with an important club like Sevilla. When I had the opportunity to come here, I didn’t think twice.

Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui will hope Papu Gomez can serve them as effectively he did Atalanta– from the start of 2018-19 until December 16, when he last featured in Serie A for the Bergamo side.

In that period no player across Europe’s big five leagues recorded more key passes than his 233.

Papu Gomez joined Atalanta from Metalist Kharkiv in 2014 and was a key factor in the club’s rise from mid-table also-rans to regular top-four challengers.
