Michael Vinicius: What do we know about Kotoko’s Brazilian striker?

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of former Fluminese player and Brazilian international Michael Vinicius on a two-and half year.

Michael Vinicius will now become the second Brazilian in the camp of the Porcupine Warriors, with Fabio Gama joining the club before the start of the new season.

Gama has hit the ground running and has had some incredible fixtures which has propelled Kotoko into fourth position in the Ghana Premier League.

Michael Vinicius will be expected to fill in the gap left by Kwame Opoku who left the Porcupine Warriors following the conclusion of the first round.

The Brazilian will now be expected to fire Kotoko to glory when the league resumes next month, but what does the stats say about the him?

Style of play

With a height of 1.86m, Michael loves to play as a traditional centre forward who is comfortable in the box and on some occasions outside it.

The player has a good foot and can shoot afar with his right foot from distance while his aerial prowess means he can also score from set pieces, as shown in the video below.

He will likely be a perfect replacement for Opoku who also loved to use strength to get away from opposition defenders and shoot whenever there is an opportunity.

Michael will also benefit from the crosses that will be put in by the likes of Moro Ibrahim and Christopher Nettey from the flanks.
