Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has confirmed that striker Sergio Aguero is back in contention after missing a chunk of this season’s action.
The player had recovered from an injury but was slowed down by coronavirus after he was forced to be in isolation since January. The Argentine, thus, had to miss seven games in the process, but he is back although his manager admits he needs time.
Speaking ahead of their clash with Burnley, Pep Guardiola said:
Everyone is fine except Nathan (Aké). Sergio needs time. He suffered from Covid. He will need two weeks or so but he tested negative and he is healthy again. It is important to have him here back.Advertisement
The Argentine forward has featured for the Citizens three times this season and in his absence, the club has won all seven matches, climbed to the top of the Premier League, and progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Aguero’s future at the club has been a subject of speculation having not been offered a new deal despite his contract ending in the summer.
