NBA Notebook: Luka Doncic’s 33rd career triple-double gives Mavericks opening night joy


The Dallas Mavericks began their second round night in the best way possible as a triple double from Luka Doncic gave them a win over San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Following the conclusion of the first round of the 2020/21 NBA season and the All-Star break, the second round commenced on Wednesday night, with Mavericks securing their first win.


The Dallas Mavericks were in eighth place of the Western Conference table with 18-16 and a three game winning streak prior to the conclusion of the first round and continued the run with a 115-104 win over the Spurs.

Luka Doncic was again crucial for the side as he posted 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists to power Mavericks to victory.

The triple-double on Wednesday night is his 33rd in his young career and is now tied with Bob Cousy for 11th on the all-time triple-doubles list.


Elsewhere the Grizzlies earned a 127-112 victory over the Wizards on the opening night of the second round of the new season.
