Liverpool 2-1 Brighton: Salah’s strike secures vital win for Reds

Liverpool secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brighton in a game that saw referee David Coote’s performance come under scrutiny. The visitors took an early lead through Danny Welbeck, but Liverpool responded well and created several chances to equalize.

Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister had opportunities to score, but it was Luis Diaz who eventually equalized the game midway through the first half. Salah missed a chance to put Liverpool ahead soon after, as he could only manage a weak shot at the goalkeeper.

During the match, both teams’ supporters, players, and managers became increasingly frustrated with Coote’s decisions, raising concerns about his control over the game. Liverpool had a strong penalty appeal rejected by Coote, and despite Paul Tierney’s review of the incident in the VAR booth, the decision was not overturned.

Despite dominating possession, Liverpool struggled to break down a compact Brighton defense. However, Salah finally found the breakthrough with a brilliant team move involving Alexis Mac Allister, before finishing coolly into the bottom corner.

A third goal for Liverpool was ruled out by a marginal offside call, with Tierney once again failing to overturn the decision. There was a late scare for Liverpool as Adam Lallana’s shot went just wide, but the hosts held on for a vital three points.

The victory moves Liverpool up to second place in the Premier League table, ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Arsenal later in the day. Jurgen Klopp will be relieved to have secured all three points, but he will know that his side must improve if they are to challenge for the title this season.
