Alisson Becker 7

Confident with the ball at his feet and next to nothing to do with his hands first half before good save from Saka close range.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 5

Deliveries from corners inconsistent and struck one free-kick into the wall from a good position. Regressed dramatically during second half. Subbed.

Joel Matip 7

A couple of necessary defensive interventions then continually stepped forward to break the lines as the extra man. Subbed as Liverpool went more attacking in final quarter.

Andy Robertson 6

Excellent diagonal released Jota for the sending off but crossing too often indifferent. Booked.

Fabinho 6

Kept things ticking over in midfield and while solid in the tackle was unable to conjure much creativity. Subbed.

James Milner 5

Struggled to get up with the pace of the game and took a whack in the face for his troubles. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 5

Mixed bag before break, with some forceful runs and swift passes followed by the odd slack distribution. Far less of an influence second half, though.

Diogo Jota 5

Forced the red card for Xhaka with the run in behind but otherwise frustratingly peripheral and ran down too many blind alleys.

Roberto Firmino 5

Looked lively when on the ball but that wasn’t anywhere near often enough. Frustrating night.

Takumi Minamino 6

Similar to his fellow forwards, dangerous in flashes but often hounded out by the sheer numbers in the Arsenal defence. Close twice in the second half, though.

Curtis Jones (for Milner 61) 7

Brought much-needed energy to the midfield and had what appeared a shot on target.

Joe Gomez (for Matip 76) 6

Rare outing for the final 15 minutes.

Neco Williams (for Alexander-Arnold 76) 6

Provided pace and direct running down the right.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Fabinho 76) 6

Couldn’t provide the breakthrough.
