Reports: Dani Alves parties after prison release for rape conviction

Dani Alves, the former Barcelona player, reportedly celebrated his release from prison by partying with friends until 5 am, according to Spanish media. Alves was released from Brians 2 prison on Monday after serving 15 months for raping a woman in December 2022. He was found guilty in February and sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, but he is currently appealing the verdict from his home after agreeing to several conditions set by the court.

Alves surrendered his Spanish and Brazilian passports and will have to visit the court weekly to maintain his freedom. He paid a €1 million (£850,000) bail bond to secure his release. Alves reportedly celebrated his father’s birthday with family and friends at his £4.5m villa in Esplugues de Llobregat, with festivities lasting until 5 am.

According to previous statements made by Alves’ lawyer, Ines Guardiola, the Brazilian footballer was reported to be in a financially difficult situation, with a bank balance of negative £17,000. However, Alves is now expected to receive a sum of €9.2m (£7.9m) after his tax lawyer successfully won four cases against Spain’s tax agency. Unfortunately, Alves’ accounts in Brazil have been blocked due to issues related to his ex-wife, Dinorah Santana.

Neymar’s father was rumored to have helped Alves pay the bail money, but he denied the claims. Memphis Depay’s agent also denied “fake” claims that the Atletico Madrid player provided Alves with the cash.

Alves was convicted of raping a 23-year-old woman in the toilet of an upscale Barcelona nightclub, Sutton, over a year and a half ago. His ex-wife Santana spoke out against his release on bail, stating, “There are times when you will have to share the table with Judas, without that taking away your peace. Well, me today.” Santana initially stood by Alves but later claimed she felt “used” and said, “For me, he doesn’t exist. For me, he has died.”
