Kyle Kuzma signs 3-year, $40 million extension with Lakers

A member of the Lakers team that won the 2019/2020 NBA season, Kyle Kuzma has now signed a 3-year contract which could see him stay with the Champions, potentially, through to the 2024 season.

Kyle Kuzma played a huge part in the Lakers’ run to the title last season as he averaged 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 61 games last season, as well as averaging 10.0 points in 21 games in the Orlando bubble.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kyle Kuzma’s new deal is a three-year, $40 million extension.

Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka of LA Lakers, expressed his delight at seeing the deal go through. He said: 

It is especially gratifying for our Lakers franchise to draft, develop and now sign one of our own to a contract extension.

Kyle has shown tremendous growth over the last three years, and played a crucial role on last season’s championship team. Kyle (Kuzma) has been a terrific member of the Lakers community and we are all very excited about his continued future with us.

Kuzma’s extension comes after the Lakers agreed new extensions with duo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The latter’s contract is said to be a five-year, $190 million maximum, and the former’s said to be a $86 million two-year maximum contract extension.
