The opening weekend of the Premier League season has thrown up some rather intriguing fixtures, none more so than West Ham United welcoming the defending champions, Manchester City, to the London Stadium.

David Moyes has overseen a quite outstanding turnaround at West Ham since taking the job, yet he is now tasked with taking the team to the next level.

Retaining the services of Declan Rice has been a huge plus for the Irons, and the arrival of Gianluca Scamacca has left fans excited.

Manchester City have been their expected efficient selves in the market, adding both Kalvin Phillips and Erling Haaland to a team that was already supremely strong.

Aymeric Laporte will be unavailable for the match after undergoing knee surgery in July, whilst the Hammers have a full selection available including their latest summer signing, Maxwel Cornet, who was registered just ahead of Friday’s deadline.
