Ibrahim Sadiq Scores Brace in AZ Alkmaar’s 2-1 Win Over PEC Zwolle
Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq delivered a match-winning performance on Friday night, scoring twice to secure AZ Alkmaar’s 2-1 victory over PEC Zwolle in the Dutch Eredivisie. The game, held at the MAC³PARK Stadion, saw Alkmaar extend their head-to-head dominance against PEC Zwolle, boasting 16 wins, 8 draws, and only 3 losses.
Sadiq wasted no time in making his mark, opening the scoring just 6 minutes into the match with a composed left-footed finish from the center of the box. Ruben van Bommel provided the assist after a swift counter-attack. Sadiq doubled his tally in the 51st minute with a sensational strike from outside the box, finding the top center of the goal with his left foot.
Despite PEC Zwolle controlling possession, AZ Alkmaar were more clinical with their chances, and Sadiq’s brilliance proved to be the difference. The Ghanaian winger has been a standout for Alkmaar this season, tallying four goals and three assists in just six Eredivisie appearances.
AZ Alkmaar will now turn their attention to the Europa League, where they are set to face Swedish side Elfsborg on September 25th.
