GPL Week 14 results: WAFA’s superior home record ended as Karela go back on top
West African football academy (WAFA) for the first time this season failed to score at home, following their stalemate ( 0-0) with Ashanti Gold on Saturday.
The club had scored at least once in all of their home games this season including impressive goal scoring displays against Medeama SC, King Faisal and Liberty Professionals.
In those fixtures, WAFA managed to score at least four goals, recording four against King Faisal and five against both Medeama SC and Liberty Professionals.
But that spree came to an end against Ashanti Gold, despite having hopes of repeating the 6-1 thrashing they subjected the Miners to last season.
The draw means that WAFA are still a point above Ashanti Gold in 8th position while the miners are in 10th position.
Karela back on top
With Kumasi Asante Kotoko involved in continental duties, Karela United went back into first place as they secured all three points against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Sports stadium.
The Ayinase boys were leapfrogged by Kotoko in the previous match day, having lost 0-2 to Johnson Smith’s side but they bounced back in week 14 to reclaim their status as league leaders.
Karela United scored both goals in the first half through Umar Basiru and Diawise Taylor, who netted his 10th goal of the current campaign, before Dwarfs secured a consolation goal through Benjamin Acquah.
They are now two points ahead of Kotoko and Dreams FC who are now into second place after their resounding victory over Aduana Stars in week 14.
