GPL report: Olympics go joint top after victory over King Faisal

Accra Great Olympics are now joint leaders with Karela United on the Ghana Premier League table after defeating struggling King Faisal this afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The club have now won back to back games following their 0-2 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in the regional derby last weekend.

Great Olympics went into the game without their star man Gladson Awako who was ruled out due to suspension, but they managed to defeat the Kumasi based side by 3-1.

Maxwell Quaye was handed the responsibility of leading the team in the absence of Awako who has recorded seven goals and assists this season.

There were no problems for them, however, as goals from Charles Danso Otu in the 34th minute, Samuel Abbey Ashie Quaye in the 54th minute and Michael Yeboah in the 81st minute secured all three points for the Dade boys.

King Faisal got a consolation through Frimpong Boateng in the 74th minute but it was not enough to get them a point from the fixture.

The win means that Great Olympics have 21 points after 12 games and are separated from league leaders Karela United who have a game in hand, by goal difference.
