NBA Notebook: Giannis drops season -high 47 points but Suns end Bucks winning streak
The Milwaukee Bucks were in fine form heading into Wednesday night’s matchup with Phoenix Suns, having won all of their last five games in the NBA.
The winning streak which had propelled them into second place on the Eastern conference table saw them defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 134-106, the Pacers 130-110; while securing back to back wins against the Cavaliers 105-123 and 99-124.
Their last win of the streak came against the Nuggets 112-125 on Tuesday night before their first defeat in 5 games at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.
Bucks lost by the slimmest of margins, with just a point separating themselves and Wednesday night’s victors. The defeat was recorded despite Giannis Antetokounmpo recording a season high of 47 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the game.
That made him the 3rd player to have 40 points, 10 rebounds & 5 assists in a game this season, joining Nikola Jokic & Russell Westbrook (once each).

Regardless of the defeat, the Milwaukee Bucks still remain in second place behind the Philadelphia 76ers with 16-9 while Suns are fourth in the Western conference with 15-9.
LeBron James powers Lakers to sixth straight victory
While Bucks lost their winning momentum, LeBron James ensured that the Los Angeles Lakers continued their winning streak and keep the pressure on Utah Jazz for the first place spot in the Western conference.
James scored a three pointer to force the game into OT before before putting in a defensive masterclass at the latter part of the game to help the Lakers record their sixth straight win in the Western conference.
After the game, LeBron earned praise from his coach, Frank Vogel, who indicated that he could win the MVP for this season.
Frank Vogel, in talking about @KingJames, said he’s:
“Probably going to be this year’s MVP.”
(Vogel has repeatedly said that LeBron remains the game’s best player; tonight he specifically addressed the award)
