After a short hiatus, the Ghana Women’s Premier League returns this week with match week 5. There are an interesting fixtures lineups for both the northern and southern fixtures and have previewed all of them below.

Ghana Women’s League  Match Week 5 (Southern Zone Preview)

Berry Ladies vs Thunder Queens

Berry Ladies will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run on the road as they host Thunder Queens in the Greater Accra derby on Saturday at the Madina AstroTurf.

Coach Mercy Targoe’s side sits top of the league table in the Southern Zone, two points ahead of second-placed Hasaacas Ladies.

Berry Ladies heads into this fixture following a 2-1 victory over Police Ladies. Thelma Baffour Atuah’s 61st goal from the spot-kick goal was enough for the visitors in the aforementioned fixture.

Thunder Queens are winless in their last four league games, losing the last two and drawing two.

The Queens come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw to Immigration Ladies after Faustina Asabea’s 56th-minute goal ensured the spoils were shared.

Coming up against a Berry ladies’ squad that is rich in quality, Thunder Queens must be at their best for 90 minutes to get results.

Ladies Strikers vs Soccer Intellectuals

Ladies Strikers will fancy their chances when they host Soccer Intellectuals at the Robert Mensah Stadium in the Ghana Women’s League on Saturday in what is expected to be a closely-fought encounter.

Both teams have been impressive in recent weeks and will be intent on securing a victory in this match, as they are separated by just three points in the league table.

After picking a crucial win against Sea Lions Stars in Elmina, Lady Strikers will hope to replicate their brilliant performance at home in week 5.

Soccer Intellectuals, on the other hand, heads into this fixture on the back on 1-0 loss to second-placed Hasaacas Ladies.

Coach Ali Yakubu’s side sits 4th on the league log and will be aiming to leapfrog the home side in the Central regional Derby.

Three points will be everything to fight for as both sides will seek to enhance their chances of winning the league.

Hasaacas Ladies vs Sea Lions

The ‘doo’ Ladies at the Sekondi Gyandu Park will battle it out with Sea Lions, the team with the most conceded goals of 9.

Hasaacas Ladies possess the best defense in the division having conceded only once on the road and will look to extend their fine performance on matchday 4 after edging out Soccer Intellectuals.

Sea Lions, on the other hand, sit bottom of Ghana’s Women League in the Southern Zone with no point and the worse defense.

This encounter presents Coach Maapa’s troops with the best chance to arrest their slump.

Immigration Ladies vs Police Ladies

Elsewhere at the Mcdan La Town Park, Immigration Ladies will come up against Police Ladies.

The host are winless in their last four matches in the league, losing two and drawing two.

Whiles Police Ladies coming off a 1-0 loss League leaders Berry Ladies, will leave no stone unturned this weekend in an all Service Derby.

This weekend’s encounter promises a gripping affair as three points will be everything both sides need to stay in the top-flight women’s league.

Fabulous Ladies vs Northern Ladies

Fabulous Ladies will lock horns with Northern Ladies at the Wesco Park in Kumasi. The host head into this encounter off a 3-0 loss to regional rivals Ashtown ladies.

The Kumasi-based team are on a three-game losing run in the Ghana Women’s League and will look to change that this Saturday.

The visitors also haven’t enjoyed a great season, and are 5th on the League Log, winning one out of the four matches, drawing one, and losing two.

Prison Ladies vs Apem Darkoa Ladies

Prison Ladies host Apem Darkoa in Ghana Women’s League action on Saturday in what is sure to be an enthralling match-up.

Both sides have been the Northern Zone’s in-form teams in recent weeks and will be looking to continue their good form when they meet at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Saturday.

Prison Ladies currently sit second on the table, three points behind League Leaders Apem Darkoa Ladies.

Sumani Basirudu’s side possesses one of the best defense in the Northern Zone, losing once, and will be hoping to pull off an upset in this encounter.

Whiles Apem Darkoa Ladies are coming off a 3-2 victory over Supreme Ladies after Patience Peterson Kundok brace was enough for Joe Nana Adarkwa side.

The visitors will be aiming to maintain their spot on the league log and can’t afford to slip Prison Ladies.

In other fixtures, Coach Joyce Boateng’s Supreme Ladies will trade tackles with Kumasi Sports Academy at the Okese Park as Pearl Pia Ladies makes a date in Tamale with Ashtown Ladies at the Utrecht Park.
