Ghana Women’s League Match 6 Preview: Can Lady Strikers stop red hot Berry Ladies

Berry Ladies host Lady Strikers in the Ghana Women’s League action on Saturday in what is sure to be an enthralling match-up.

Both sides have been the Southern Zone’s in-form teams in recent weeks and will be looking to continue their good form when they meet at the Madina Astro Turf on Saturday.

Coach Mercy Targoe’s side sits top of the Ghana Women’s League (Southern Zone), three point clear of Lady Strikers FC and will look to extend that to six points.

The greater Accra based team heads into this fixture on the back of five consecutive victories and remains the only unbeaten side in the zone.

Lady Strikers, on the other hand, sits second in the Southern Zone with 12 points and will be aiming to end Saturday’s opponent’s unbeaten run.

The Strikers are legitimate contenders for the Ghana Women’s League title this season but have plenty of work to do to give League Leaders Berry Ladies a run for their money.

In the Northern Zone, Ashtown Ladies will trade tackles with Apem Darkoa Ladies as another top table clash will be served on Saturday at the Wesco Park.

Despite a rough start to the 2020/21 Ghana Women’s League, Ashtown Ladies currently sit second on the table, 5 points behind Apem Darkoa Ladies who placed first in the  Northern Zone.

Coach Alex Kamara’s side heads into this encounter on the back off a hard fought 1-1 draw at Tamale to extend their unbeaten run on the road to three matches.

Whiles Apem Darkoa Ladies will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in the Zone. Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa’s side remains the only unbeaten team in the Northern Zone.

The Techiman based team heads into this fixture on the back of a 1-0 victory over Prison Ladies, after Tracy Twum’s solo effort in the 58th minute gave the visitors the needed win.

Apem Darkoa Ladies have an excellent record against Ashtown Ladies as previous meeting between the two teams last year ended in 5-0 thumping for Apem Darkoa Ladies. Tracy Twum and Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah were exceptional on the day and will look to pull off a similar result in this match.

Saturday’s fixture is sure to be a hotly-contested one as both teams will look to go for the jugular and come away with all three points.
