Ghana Women’s League Week 6 Wrap: Apem Darkoa Ladies extend lead to 6 points as Berry Ladies held at home
Apem Darkoa Ladies moved six points clear at the top of the Ghana Women’s League after beating Ashtown Ladies 2-1 on Saturday, while Berry Ladies, Southern Zone League Leaders were held 2-2 at home by Lady Strikers, ending their club-record five-match-winning run.
Goals from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah and Sonia Opoku ensured Apem Darkoa claimed a 2-1 victory away from home to extend their unbeaten league run to 6 games. Ashtown Ladies got a consolation through Rita Boamah in the 67th minute but it was not enough to get them a point from the fixture.
Elsewhere, Berry Ladies’ winning start to the season was brought to a halt as they drew 2-2 against Lady Strikers. The league leaders opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Cynthia Boakye Yiadom before Gladys Amfobea netted in the 37th minute to put Strikers level.
Suzzy Dede Teye then gave Strikers the lead just minutes before the break but parity was restored in the 50th minute for Berry Ladies as Felicity Asante also recorded her fifth goal of the season.
