Ghana Women’s League Week 4 Preview

Sea Lions will play host to Lady Strikers in a central regional derby at the Nduom Sports Complex on Saturday.

Sea Lions are coming off a 2-1 loss to League leaders Berry Ladies after Anastasia Achia’s late own goal gifted  Berry Ladies the needed win.

Coach Maapa Inkoom’s side sit bottom of the 2021 Ghana Women’s League and are on a winless run of three games and would want to stretch it no further as they face one of the best attacking side in the division this season.

Lady Strikers, on the other hand, will be hoping to build on their 1-0 home victory over Immigration Ladies in week 3, a result which put them third on the Southern Zone table.

Lady Strikers also remain the second most scoring side in the Southern Zone this season with 7 goals, indicating their ability and ruthlessness in finding the back of the net.

Saturday’s fixture is sure to be a hotly-contested one as both teams will look to go for the jugular and come away with all three points.

Police Ladies vs Berry Ladies

Police Ladies will take on league leaders Berry Ladies at the McDan La Town Park on Saturday in what is sure to be an enthralling match-up.

Heading into this encounter, Police Ladies suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Soccer Intellectuals in their previous game and have slipped to fifth place in the Southern Zone standings as a result. Coach Oswald Franklin Sam’s side, however, will be looking to pull off an upset in this match.

After picking a crucial win over Sea Lions at home, thanks to Anastasia Achia’s late own goal, Coach Mercy Targoe’s side will hope to replicate their brilliant performance in order to extend their lead on top of the table in the Southern Zone.

Thunder Queens vs Immigration Ladies

At the Community 8 Park in Tema, Thunder Queens Ladies are coming off a 1-0 loss to Hasaacas ladies and will leave no stone unturned this weekend when they face Immigration Ladies.

Thunder Queens sit 6th and have the worst defence. Coach Edina’s Quargaine’s side will be searching for their first win heading into this encounter after 2 consecutive losses.

Their opponents, Immigration Ladies sit seventh on the Southern Zone table with just a point. Coach Joseph Badger’s ladies head into this fixture on the back of 1-0 loss to Lady Strikers.

Immigration Ladies are also one of the sides in the Southern Zone who are finding it difficult to score goals. They will be aiming for their first win but Joseph Badger’s side need to work on their precision in front of goal against the team with the worst defense in the league.

Soccer Intellectuals vs Hasaacas Ladies

Soccer Intellectuals will trade tackles with Hasaacas Ladies on Saturday at the Adu Yaw-Assasan Park in Ajumako. Both teams have been impressive in recent weeks and will be intent on securing a victory in this match.

Soccer Intellectuals eased past Thunder Queens 1-0 over the weekend and will be confident ahead of this fixture.

Meanwhile, Hasaacas Ladies gave their home fans something to cheer about at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, when they edged out Thunder Queens, thanks to Patience Prah’s own goal in the 65th minute.

The ‘doo’ ladies will be aiming to leapfrog league leaders Berry Ladies and they can’t afford to slip.
