GFA Releases 2024-25 Ghana Premier League Fixtures
The 2024-25 Ghana Premier League season kicks off on Friday, September 6, 2024, only 82 days after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
Defending champions FC Samartex 1996 are scheduled to commence their season with an away match against Dreams FC. Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will host newly promoted Basake Holy Stars, and Asante Kotoko SC will travel to face Karela United.
The inaugural weekend is anticipated to deliver compelling matches. Former champions Medeama will encounter last season’s runners-up, Accra Lions. In addition, the newly promoted Vision FC is set to host Berekum Chelsea, with Nsoatreman FC set to contend with Young Apostles at their home ground. Aduana FC will compete against Heart of Lions, Gold Stars FC will face Legon Cities, and Nations FC will challenge Bechem United.
One of the season’s highlights, the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak, is set for Match Day 13 at Baba Yara Stadium. The return fixture will take place on Match Day 30 at Accra Sports Stadium.
Regional derbies are set to capture fans’ attention. Nsoatreman FC will host Berekum Chelsea on Match Day 3, Bechem United on Match Day 9, and Aduana FC on Match Day 11. Aduana FC will also face Bechem United on Match Days 2 and 19, while Berekum Chelsea will play Bechem United on Match Day 11.
Western derbies include Medeama SC vs. Basake Holy Stars on Match Days 4 and 21, and FC Samartex vs. Gold Stars FC on Match Days 2 and 19. Asante Kotoko SC will face Nations FC in the Ashanti derby on Match Days 11 and 28.
In the final matches, FC Samartex 1996 will travel to Accra Hearts of Oak. Asante Kotoko will visit Vision FC, while Dreams FC will host Legon Cities. Nations FC will battle Heart of Lions at home, Aduana Stars will play Basake Holy Stars, Bechem United will host Young Apostles, Karela United will welcome Nsoatreman FC, and Medeama will host Berekum Chelsea.
The season will span 34 weekends, with no midweek matchdays to reduce travel stress on clubs. The league will take a one-week break for the December 7, 2024, National Elections to allow players and officials to vote.
