Napoli head coach Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen, will be punished for breaking the club’s Coronavirus guidelines, but has indicated that the player has apologized for his actions.
The former Lille forward Osimhen was spotted in a video dancing at a surprise party, few days after he was permitted to go home but under strict safety agreements.
Gattuso in an exclusive interview said he was disappointed in Osimhen, who tested positive for the Coronavirus after his return to Italy, but the player has already admitted to his mistakes.
When I made a mistake, Marcello Lippi used to say he’d let me stew in my own juices for a while, to recognise what I’d done. That’s what Osimhen has to do now,” Gattuso begun.AdvertisementAdvertisement
He has already apologised, he’s a lad who gives his all when working. He made a silly mistake, he knows that.
I am a coach, I don’t decide fines, especially as I was the one who gave the all-clear for him to return to Nigeria and so both of us were left embarrassed by what happened.Advertisement
He made a mistake and he will pay what he needs to pay,” Gattuso concluded to Sky Italia.
Napoli sits fifth on the league log with nine points behind log leaders AC Milan.
