Edinson Cavani accepts FA ban over Instagram post but says ´my heart is at peace
The former PSG forward will be sidelined for three games after sharing a racially insensitive post on Instagram.
Manchester United striker, Edinson Cavani, has accepted the Football Association’s decision to ban him for three games for an Instagram post made in November, but was quick to stress his innocence.
Cavani, 33, accepted his ban but stressed he was eager to move on from the incident.
He said:
Hello everyone. I do not want to extend much in this uncomfortable moment for me. I want to share with you that I accept the disciplinary sanction knowing that I am foreign to English language customs, but I do not share the point of view.
I apologise if I offended someone with an expression of affection towards a friend, nothing further in my intention.
AdvertisementThose who know me know that my effort always seeks the simplest joy and friendship! I appreciate the countless expressions of support and affection.
My heart is at peace, because I know that I always expressed myself with affection according to my culture and way of life. I send you a sincere hug.
The 3 matches ban means that the player will be unavailable when Manchester United take on Aston Villa this weekend in the 17th week of the 2020/21 English Premier League season.
United will be hoping to continue their good run of form but face an Aston Villa side who are fearless against the top sides, according to Dean Smith.
