NBA report: Durant hits 500 points mark in just 17 games for Nets

Kevin Durant is now tied for the second fastest player in NBA history to reach 500 points with a team following his impressive display in Nets’ victory over Los Angeles Clippers.

The player, before the current season, had been out for over a year after rupturing his Achilles in 2019, but has returned with all his glory and has shown how lethal of a scorer he is.

Before the game against Clippers, he was behind Bradley Beal (34) in terms of points per game with 30.9 and was just 5 points from reaching the milestone of 500 points for Brooklyn Nets.

Durant reached that easily by dropping 28 points against Clippers as Nets emerged 124-120 victors in a well contested matchup.

The only player to have scored 500 points in less games is Wilt Chamberlain with the Warriors in 1959-60 (14 games) according to ESPN Stats and Info.

Kevin Durant was not the only player to impress for Nets, with the other members of the trio showing up to give Nets a needed win.

Of the three, Kyrie Irving dropped the most points with 39 points in 37 minutes while James Harden dropped 23 points.

Harden, fresh from being named as the NBA player of the week for week 6, bagged another triple double as he  made 11 rebounds and 14 assists in addition to his points tally.

The Nets are currently second in the Eastern conference with 14-9 behind Philadelphia 76ers (15-6).

In the other matchups, Stephen Curry’s 38 points were not enough for the Golden State Warriors as they suffered defeat at the hands of Boston Celtics 107-111 on Tuesday night, while the Trail Blazers edged out Wizards 132-121.
