Golden State forward Draymond Green is doubtful for the Warriors’ opening game on Tuesday against Brooklyn Nets after he suffered a mild muscle strain in his right foot.
Golden State Head Coach, Kerr revealed that three-time All-Star, Green, tweaked his foot during a training early in the week.
Green underwent an MRI that came back clean and is not expected to miss a lot of time. Kerr also revealed that even if Green misses the opener against the Nets, he will travel with Golden State and is expected to play at some point on the season-opening four-game road trip.
Kerr noted that Green is in good spirits and should return “quickly.”
I know Draymond is disappointed to not practice today,” Kerr told reporters. “And maybe not play Tuesday night.
But he’s also well aware that it’s a long season, 72 games. He’s going to get right, he’s going to be healthy and ready to roll when he is, and at that point, there’s a ton of basketball left. We’re being smart and Draymond understands the need to be so.Advertisement
Draymond Green would miss the Christmas game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but that the team is confident he’ll play the rest of the road trip.
The Dubs start the season with four straight road games, finishing off with a Dec. 27 game against the Chicago Bulls and a Dec. 29 game against the Detroit Pistons.
