One of Liverpool stars, Mohammed Salah or Sadio Mane will miss the Qatar 2022 World Cup after their countries were drawn for the last qualifying round in Africa.
The Confederation of African Football today conducted the draw for the last round of the World Cup qualifiers in Africa and saw Senegal paired with Egypt in one of the games.
With Africa having only five slots at the World Cup, only one of the aforementioned sides will make it to the 2022 World Cup, which comes off later this year in Qatar.
If Egypt were to miss the World Cup, it might affect the chances of Mohammed Salah winning the Ballon D’or this year after an incredible start to the new year.
Salah vs Mane
The African stars are two of the best players on the planet at present – in 20 Premier League games in 2021-22, Salah has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists, while Mane has netted eight times in the league for Liverpool.
Only one will grace the World Cup stage this year however, with Egypt versus Senegal and the other four play-off games to take place between March 24 and 29.
The winners over two legs will go to the World Cup, taking place between November 21 and December 18.
