Champions League: Madrid boost qualification chances

Real Madrid yesterday served their chances of qualifying to the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a massive boost as they defeated Inter Milan 2-0 in Italy to go second in Group B.

Former Chelsea star, Eden Hazard opened the scoring in the 7th minute via a penalty before Hakim Achraf conceded an own goal in the second half to put Madrid in the comfortable zone. Zidane’s men are now just a point behind Borussia M’gladbach who lead the group with 8 points.

In Group A, Bayern Munich also made it four out four wins in the Champions League to join the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Sevilla and Barcelona who have secured qualification to the next round of the competition.

They have also been joined by Manchester City who defeated Olympiakos Piraeus by a lone goal courtesy a Phil Foden strike.

It is also worth noting that all of yesterday’s fixtures began with the observance of a minute silence for Diego Maradona who passed away yesterday aged 60.
