Carmelo Anthony is now the 14th-leading scorer in NBA history after surpassing Spurs’ legend Tim Duncan on the career list.
The Trail Blazers reserve secured 18 points in Friday’s victory over the Warriors to take his total tally of points to 26,498, two more than Tim Duncan’s ( 26,496).
Carmelo Anthony passed Duncan with a contested corner 3-pointer late in the third quarter of Portland’s victory, and could not hide his excitement after achieving the feat.
I’m just happy to continue to do what I love to do and be out here still doing it at this stage of my career, at this age, I’m still enjoying the game and having fun with the game, and I still love to play the game and I think it shows out there on the basketball court, Anthony said after the game.
But for me to surpass Tim Duncan, who we all know how great of a player he was and what he did for this game, I’m still going and I’m still enjoying it.AdvertisementAdvertisement
Anthony could surpass Hakeem Olajuwon, Oscar Robertson and Dominique Wilkins to reach 11th place by the end of the season.
