Belgium Euro 2024 Squad: De Bruyne and Lukaku in, Courtois out

With a mix of experienced players and young talent, Belgium is looking to write a new chapter in their history at Euro 2024

Belgium is looking to prove they can still compete with the best in Europe at Euro 2024, despite the end of their golden generation. While they have underachieved in major tournaments, they have a talented squad and hopes are high for a deep run in the competition.

The Red Devils’ previous generation, including Eden Hazard, Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Kompany, Mousa Dembele, and Dries Mertens, has largely moved on. However, experienced stars like Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Jan Vertonghen remain, along with younger talent like Jeremy Doku and Leandro Trossard.

Coach Domenico Tedesco named a 25-man squad for Euro 2024, opting not to add an extra player to the final roster. Notable omissions include Thibaut Courtois, who recently returned from injury, and Axel Witsel, who was recalled due to injury concerns. Uncapped defender Maxim De Cuyper and teenager Arthur Vermeeren are included in the squad.

With a mix of experienced players and young talent, Belgium is looking to write a new chapter in its history at Euro 2024. While expectations may be different than in the past, the team is still hoping to make a significant impact and potentially win their first major trophy.
