ATP Cup 2021: Novak Djokovic and Serbia handed tough group

Novak Djokovic and Serbia have been drawn in a tough group with Alexander Zverev’s Germany and Denis Shapovalov’s Canada in the ATP Cup 2021 which starts early next month.

Djokovic was part of the Serbian side which lifted the trophy in Sydney last year and has returned with them as they seek to defend their trophy.


Their first task will be to top Group A, which also has Germany and Canada, to secure a place in the semis.

Spain, who finished as runners -up in the inguaral edition have also been drawn against Greece and Australia as World number two, Rafael Nadal leads his side to the second edition of the tournament.


The inaugural event last year was played in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, but due to the spread of Covid-19, this year’s tournament will be played at Melbourne Park.

The 12 teams have been divided into four groups of three for the group stage, round-robin play.


The winning team from each of the four first-round groups will go directly into the semi-finals.
