2020/2021 season: A look at the start and end dates of the top 5 European Leagues

With the 2019/2020 season having an extended duration due to the coronavirus pandemic, most European Leagues are expected to begin their 2020/2021 season in September instead of August which had become the norm for several years.

There is an exception to this, though, with the French Ligue 1 already started. This was possible due to the fact that the league was cancelled on April 28 while the other leagues resumed from the enforced break to complete their respective seasons.

Clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Lyon and Barcelona are expected to have an extended break and a late start to the 2020/2021 season due to their involvement in the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa Europa League.

But what are the actual start and end dates for the 2020/2021 season? We take a look…
